Each water system must have a specifically designed control scheme to minimize the risk of proliferation, growth and exposure of Legionella bacteria to the building users. The control measures and risk assessment together with the record keeping system and responsibilities for implementing and undertaking the control scheme are formalised into the Written Scheme.
The written scheme will set out tasks that are required to monitor and log the water system conditions and Howlett offer these services undertaken by our team of experienced and trained technicians.
Howlett offer written scheme design all in accordance with ACoP L8 and HSG274, together with a site record keeping system for all monitoring records.
The primary control measure to prevent Legionella growth is temperature and all domestic water systems will require a minimum of monthly temperature testing and logging of sentinel outlets, Howlett can provide this service or assist your own staff with training to carry out the tasks in house.
Periodic water sampling may be required for domestic water systems and Howlett are able to offer all types a water sampling and analysis including Legionella, general bacteria and specific bacteria. All samples undertaken by Howlett will be tested at UKAS Laboratories ensuring the accuracy and consistency of the sampling results.
Through our dedicated team of experienced, trained and professional technicians Howlett are able to offer a complete compliance monitoring service to undertake all tasks identified within the written scheme.
With a tailored written scheme Howlett ensure that you meet and exceed the legislative requirements and that all elements are covered in the Compliance Monitoring Scheme including weekly, monthly, quarterly, 6 monthly and annual tasks all identified within HSG274.
Legionella training is crucial for the management of Legionella risk . It is important that those responsible for discharging their duty of care are fully aware of the relevant legislation and guidelines for the control or prevention of Legionella bacteria in water systems
