Water is a precious commodity and at Howlett Associates we are continuing to develop products and services that are environmentally friendly. Traditional Pre-Commission Cleaning requires the use of large amounts of water to flush the system being cleaned, normally 5-6 times system volume, the process also involves discharging large volumes of water containing cleaning chemicals.

Howlett Associates closed recovery pre commission cleaning system dramatically reduces the need for system water flushing and time to complete the works. Following a wet pressure test the system requires dynamically flushing and then only refiling once. During the fill stage with either softened or mains water fill with specifically designed chemical cleaning & passivating agent. No further water flushing to drain is required as the passivating / cleaning agent works immediately to remove mill scale, swarf and debris to the bulk water phase for collection in the specifically designed stages of the temporarily installed filter bank.

Passivation of the metal surfaces begins immediately and continual circulation through the filter bank dramatically reduces cleaning time.

BSRIA requirements are met by dynamically flushing in batches through the filter set and flow rates are recorded in accordance with BSRIA guidelines. Bacteriological contamination is nullified by minimal biocide dosing and not keep changing the water in the system through flushing to drain. The process is environmentally friendly and proven on over 100 LTHW & CHW systems in the last 18 months.
